    1. Assessment & Planning
      • Determine the type of flooring your space has (e.g., hardwood, tile, carpet, etc.).
      • Identify areas with heavy foot traffic.
      • Evaluate risks like spills, heavy equipment, or frequent moving of furniture.
    2. Preventive Measures
      • Place floor mats and rugs on high-traffic areas to catch dirt and moisture.
      • Install floor protective barriers in construction or renovation zones to prevent damage.
      • Use only sealants or protective coatings appropriate for the floor type.
    3. Furniture & Equipment
      • Attach felt or rubber pads to the bottom of furniture legs.
      • Use floor-friendly casters or wheels to avoid floor scratches or dents.
    4. Cleaning & Maintenance
      • Implement a routine cleaning plan to prevent dirt buildup.
      • Select cleaning products appropriate for the floor type to avoid damage.
      • Have protocols in place for quick cleanup of spills to prevent stains or damage.
    5. Employee Training
      • Educate staff on proper cleaning techniques and how to handle floor spills.
      • Train staff to use protective measures like mats and pads.
    6. Inspection & Monitoring
      • Regularly inspect floors for signs of wear or damage.
      • Pay extra attention to areas prone to more wear and tear.
    7. Seasonal Adjustments
      • Use mats or other protections during seasons with adverse weather conditions.
      • Increase cleaning frequency during wet or muddy seasons.
    8. Professional Assessment
      • Consult with flooring professionals for advice on long-term protection and maintenance.
      • Ensure any service contracts include provisions for floor protection and repair.

By following this checklist, you can maintain the appearance and functionality of your commercial flooring and minimize the need for costly repairs.
